Pethö Sándor's Calatonia is a therapeutic method that transcends relaxation techniques – it promotes physiopsychic rebalancing, reconditioning organic, affective/emotional, mental, and energetic functions, fostering an expansion of body perception and self-awareness, and facilitating the intensification of the ego/Self connection.

This method is used in psychotherapy, body therapies, occupational therapy, speech therapy, physiotherapy, and medicine.

This course will cover the history of the method, its characteristics, its foundations in anatomy and physiology, in Depth Psychology (Jung), in holistic principles, in the concepts of modern physics, and in Ancient Wisdom.

Associated with the theoretical part, we will have hands-on experience with Calatonia practices, with group dynamics aimed at developing the role of the therapist.

The course will consist of 7 weekend workshops.

At the end of the course, there will be 1 hour of individual online supervision. Our course will be designed for healthcare professionals, with a certificate awarded to those who pass as a Calatonia Therapist by CeCaBe.

WAIT FOR AN INVITATION IN 2026!

History

Dr. Sándor developed Calatonia while working as a Red Cross doctor in war refugee camps in Europe, where he remained between 1945 and 1949.

Calatonia arrived in Brazil in 1949 when Dr. Sándor settled in the city of São Paulo and began working as a psychotherapist in the exiled Hungarian community.

In 1960, Dr. Sándor began teaching it in his groups.

He taught it at PUC in São Paulo from 1971 to 1974 within the Physiopsychic Integration course and in other courses created by Dr. Sándor, and later in a Specialization course in Relaxation Techniques.

Later, at the Sedes Sapientiae Institute in São Paulo, starting in 1975, it was initially taught within the Psychomotor Therapy course, now called Jung and Body, and in 1980 it began to be taught within the Psychological Kinesiology - Physiopsychic Integration course, later renamed Calatonia - Physiopsychic Integration, by Dr. Sándor himself and his followers after his death in 1992.

Calatonia Workshop

The Calatonia Center Brazil/Europe held an introductory workshop in October 2018, led by Ana Paula Figueiredo and Fernando Cortese.

The objective was to present Calatonia, its history and characteristics, and to experience its application.

This workshop can be the first step for those who wish to pursue training to become a certified Calatonia Therapist.
